How to generate list of abbreviations in LaTeX?In the beginning of the document, I define the acronym as, for example, \acrodef{USA}{United States of America}. For my thesis, I would like to generate a list of abbreviations that is ordered alphabetically as well as list of symbols that is ordered by the first appearance of each symbol in the thesis. Having done some research, it seems to me that the glossaries package is the best package for this.
Here is a MWE on how to get something like what you want, taken and slightly modified from the example site linked, to remove page numbers and change the title of the acronyms section to Abbreviations.
